Celebration and Social Justice Playlist

Music has played a pivotal role in racial and social justice movements throughout American history. This curated playlist, produced by the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History in Detroit, features a mix of genres: from the funkadelic sounds of Parliament and the R&B soul songs of Marvin Gaye to the empowering hip hop of Ill Camile and the uplifting gospel tunes of the Staples singers. We hope it will inspire you to learn more about ways in which music can help disrupt systems of oppression.
